Toy train - my DT post for Artistic Inspirations

For this weeks Artistic Inspirations challenge , which is Anything Goes, I've used a children's Toy Train image from Angies Digi Stamps. It is such a lovely simple, sketcy image I've tried to keep the feel of it by making childlike cards (not too difficult for me!!).
It is the first time I've tried this writing style for the sentiment, which I learnt from a video on the fab PaperArtsy blog and I'm totally hooked! It will be featuring widely on my art journaling from now on!

I coloured the first image using alcohol markers, very quick. The number is from a Tim Holtz alphabet die Vintage Market. I made the background by spritzing mica sprays and scrunching it up once it was dry. I used some rainbow silver card for the background and the train track which was great as I never know what to do with the stuff! Very easy.
This was just as easy, simply pattern building within the design. Dead easy peasy! Hope you like them. Suz xxx

St Patricks Day card

Hi all. Had some fun with this one. I used the lovely mushroom house from Digi Stamps for Joy. For the first card I used watercolours and colouring pencils, added a frame, cut the words and shamrocks and went around them with a white Sakura pen to add the stitching details which kind of matches the way a shamrock looks around the edge of it's leaves. The background is inked with shabby shutters and mowed lawn TH distress inks and I used glossy accents to make the windows shine.
The second project was a bit of a challenge as I'm frightened of my sewing machine but wanted to make a design with fabric! So I printed out the image onto 300gsm card, cutting out the sections to use as templates on fabric which I then put onto a fabric background by using bondaweb type double sided sticking stuff, AFTER, I'd stitched on the words by hand using backstitch. I used Cosmic Shimmer to stick on the flowers and buttons and stitched a button to the door before sticking it onto the background. The background was secured by staples to a flat canvas, I think a box one would be easier to manage next time.  Hope you like them, and why not join in yourself with the Artistic Inspirations Challenge which is Anything goes/ St Patrick's day/ Green, this week. Calendar Girl!!

Oh I had such fun with this using the fabulous digital image from Dr Digi http://www.doctor-digi.com/deirderys-day-off-digital-stamp
I embossed an A4 sheet of green paper with the fab Sheena Douglas Sunglasses embossing folder and went over it all with TH Peacock Feathers distress ink. The difference is quite subtle but you can see from the pic below how it lifts the embossing.
I did the same on another smaller bit of card, cut out the glasses and went over with treasure gold and a white pen. I printed the image and used a mixture of Dylusions sprays as watercolours along with my old set. Used a Sakura clear glaze pen on the glasses, cocktail glass and jug in the image. I then watercoloured another piece of card and made up the works with a Papermania alphabet stamp set. I went around the edges of the letters with a micron pen, a white chalk pencil and a white sakura pen. I used dies to cut both images and stuck them together on to the background card and added the glasses, the little embellies and a calendar. I used a strip of sequins for the hanger as I never know what to do with them and the colour went ok!
Have fun crafting. Suz xxx

Art Journal Page DT project using the Blossom Branch image from Floppy Lattes

Good morning all! I'm really getting addicted to Art Journaling so decided to use this beautiful Blossom Branch image by Floppy Lattes as a focal image for an art journaling page for my Artistic Inspirations DT project . I wanted to create a page for an art Journaling group I've joined on FB and this was just the inspiration I needed for the theme of things that make you smile. The combination of digital and messy arts really pushes me to try new things and I love it. The theme for Artistic Inspirations this week is Anything Goes/ Animals, why not have a go?
Here are some steps and the products I used.

I Image printed onto patterned paper. Outlined with a charcoal pencil and blended with a paper stump.
Second image shows it almost finished and torn out of the paper, coloured with promarkers then a pink Gelly Glaze pen then highlighted with a white Sakura Gelly Roll pen.
I printed the image two more times and again coloured and highlighted. Then I cut out the main flowers and some of the buds and added them around the edges of my page.

The initial page is Gesso'ed then I drew a silhouette image of a girl on a separate piece of card which I cut out and then used as a mask. Sprized the inks/ paints, removed the stencil and added a face, hair and writing.I outlined again with charcoal. Stamped the children playing around the bottom with archival ink smudged some more charcoal around the edges and doodled a swirly line. I then wrote the words with a calligraphy pen and drawing ink, tore them out and stuck them on, which you see in the main pic at the top. Oh and a little stickles glitter added to the flower centres too!
Great messy fun! This will be part of my Journal 52 artwork. Hope you liked it! Suz xxx
Think this is suitable for the Sketchbook Challenge theme of Collage, it's also just right for Hel's Sheridan's Sunday Stampers

Art Journal cover - My Latest Artistic Inspirations project

Hi all

Here is my latest DT project for Artistic Inspirations challenge 74. I chose the image from Delicious Doodles as it was very different and I loved it, but having chosen I then found it really difficult to know what to do with it!!! Then I joined the Journal 52 group, and this seemed the perfect image to make a cover for my new hand made Art Journal and the idea which popped into my head that 'Words Are Immortal' fitted beautifully.

I used recycled cardboard to make the cover and followed a clip o YouTube to find out how to bind the pages inside. I painted the cover with various cheap emulsions purchased on sale at the local DIY store, had fun using cut'n'dry foam, a toothbrush and dripping techniques.

Then I stamped and embossed the roses which are from Visible Image (and the 'immortal' word too) onto pink paper, cut them out and layered them up. I enlarged and printed the beautiful main image from Delicious Doodles, several times. The main stone is coloured with Promarkers & Spectrum Noir pens. The wings were embossed with glitter Wow Powder, Then all layered up and put together.

I'll enter this into the latest Hels Sheridan challenge which is Wings,(http://pinkleart.blogspot.co.uk/2014/01/sunday-stamper-week-290-on-wings-of-love.html )been dying to do one for weeks but just been so frantic with 'life'!
Thanks for looking!

Here are my designs using Aurora Wings Ballerina image. I loved the image so much that I made a birthday card for my Mum with it and will be heading down to Devon on the 4 hour journey to deliver it in person tomorrow, weather permitting!!! I printed the ballerina onto watercolour paper. so I could use my old favourite watercolour palette paints. Once the paint was dry (very quick with watercolours), I went over areas with Stickles glitter glue . The swirls/ corners are spellbinder dies and I cut the sentiment on my Cricut mini from watercolour card  which I again painted and highlighted with Stickles . The background on the blue card was made by using watercolours on an Indigo Blue flourish stamp and I hand wrote the sentiment with blue calligraphy ink and highlighted with a sakura pen.
