Stamp and Stitch! Jam Jar Canvas for the Craft Stamper DT Feb Challange Blog

Todays project for the Craft Stamper February Blog Challenge is a 'stamp and stitch' piece

using a stamp and die set by Aladine.

I was given this gorgeous set of stamps and dies and some fab Izink ink pads and sprays by Aladine which I've used in this project.

I'm loving textiles at the mo, so I grabbed a piece of calico, and using my stamp platform, 

stamped the jar until I had a crisp image for stitching over.

I used Izink Textile ink diluted with water to colour the jar and gold pigment ink to colour the metal ring around the top of the jar. I made the cloth a bit wet so there was a little seepage over the lines, which I rescued with the Izink white ink.

 Stamped out the first foliage stamp, theses are so cute!

Then stamped out the second using the same colour, but overstamped each for a more intense colour. Using white 300gsm smooth card, I stamped and die cut several of the daisy type flowers, I coloured the flowers with the Izink dye sprays in Cerise and Pearl to give a little shimmer. Then pierced holes in the flowers and stitched on small buttons.

I hand embroidered over the leaves in green and yellow and stitched around the outline of the jar.

Then taking an 8x8 canvas, I glued on lace, flowers and vintage book pages using DecoArt Matte Medium. Then a coat of white gesso once it was nice and dry.

 A few spritzes of Aladine Izink Dye Spray in Cerise that I'd used for the flowers- such a strong colour it took a while to knock it back again with gesso.

 More heavy dry brushing with gesso helps the lace really show up.

 Crackle paint for even more texture. It also toned down the pink a little more.

 I added the stitched project, but with a layer of old curtain material, an organza type material, underneath, this adds a softness to the piece, with folds of fabric over the flowers, framing the stitched work.

 Some buttons on the organza to tie it in with the stitched piece.

 Had to weight the buttons down to make sure they really gripped onto the fabric and canvas beneath!

 And here is the finished piece. I may add words at some stage too.

Upcycled Bottle Candle Holder a DT project for Andy Skinner's Creative Team

We had a few empty bottles after Christmas (!),  I decided to make one of them into a jazzy candle holder. using some of Andy's products, some found objects, and a few bits from my stash for my first Creative Team DT post of 2020.

After washing it well, I covered the bottle with strips of the beautiful rice papers and some old book pages. I used watered down 'Quick Grab Glue' which worked beautifully. I applied some lava paste though the Crocodile Stencil, heat activated it (that worked really well on the rice paper),then added some lace and pearl trim around the bottle neck.

I made a little dangly thing using a found rusty paper clip, piece of wire and a washer (I pick up these little treasures when I'm out and about) and added some broken jewellery. I stamped the Gypsy Queen onto shrink plastic using Stazon, cut around the image and punched a hole before shrinking with my heat tool.

Dangle using various bits onto the rusty safety pin.

"I Caught A Wish For You" for the Craft Stamper Jan Challenge

Hi all and a Happy New Year to you all!

I stamped out a gorgeous Tracy Easson stamp from 

her 'Star Gazer' set onto stamping card. 

Didn't use the embossing powder in the end. 

Painted on a background with a watered down Izink ink.

From another of Tracy's kits (the Little Angel) I stamped into

paper clay, it's so lightweight it's perfect for use on small projects and dries quickly.

Painted all with white gesso.

Cut them out, then painted the two hearts with Pyrol Red Fluid Acrylic.

I used DecoArt Antiquing Cream on the words to highlight 

the letters and the stitched detail around the hearts.

Then wiped back the cream to clean off any excess. Next was the colouring.

Used a dotting tool for the hearts and added metallic gold dots.

I took a scrap of old curtain lining - as it already had a stitched hem that I could use.

Folded it in half and snipped tabs along the hem, this way some of the beautiful twig I was planning to use would show through the gaps.

                                                                                         

I threaded the twig through (it is a lovely red colour) 

                                                        then added a layer of hessian.                                                           

I added the teensiest dot on the eye of the mouse with a nail dotting tool.

I glued down the beautiful image, adding the words and big heart. The a few smaller punched hearts. I drew tiny stitches on the smaller hearts to tie them in with the bigger one.

And with that I was finished!

Christmas Joy! For the December Craft Stamper Blog Challenge

Here's a little Christmas make for my last Craft Stamper challenge post of 2019. And I've called it Christmas Joy. There's a gorgeous set of Jane Davenport watercolours to be won by one lucky winner! To have a look at the challenge click HERE.

Having decided I would do a Christmas project, I grabbed my box of Christmas stash and this cute little deer practically jumped out at me! Then I found a greyboard base to pop him onto.

I pounced some gesso on the deer for texture.

layered up the base with book pages.

Added layers of paint.

Then a layer of lava paste...

I stamped into the lava paste to the bottom of the base layer to give even more texture.

I started to heat the lava paste...had to take a pic to show the change, love how it looks!

You can see how the stamping looks after it is heat activated.

Back to the deer...first layer of colour.

Time for so embossing, using Stampendous gold and another of the snowflake stamps.

Then the antlers, with Wow glitter powder.

More paint on the base, I covered the lava paste. Then used Andy Skinners Enigma stamp and his Crystal Glaze mixed media embossing powder across the top - to look like icicles or snow.

Dry brushing with white paint really brings out all that texture - even over the embossing!

After gluing down the deer with 3D gel, I used letter stickers, 

a gift from my American friend Andrea, to add the word 'Christmas' at the bottom.

 The letters are sticky on the top and bottom. I stuck the letters to a craft mat before peeling off the top to expose the sticky, and covered them with glitter.

To get words central and evenly spaced, start with the middle letter, then add those at either end.

A die cut bauble, and some gold stars, and a bit of twine and a bell for his neck.

Lastly a bit of wire for hanging this cheerful Christmas decoration.
